Well, parents use this saying to let their children know that things are the way they are and nothing is going to change that, so they can just deal with the situation as it is. My mom used this saying all the time! I had to make a decision to accept a situation, or in my case a punishment, and live it out to its duration.

I think it means something similar to "If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off." Basically, get rid of anything that causes to to sin or turn away from God. This quote just means get rid of the stuff that makes you mad.
