It could be just sprained, or it could be broken.
I would think if it's broken you wouldn't be able to apply that must pressure on it. HOWEVER, it could just have a HAIRLINE (thin) fracture and you may very well be able to walk on it. So you need to be VERY careful because if it does and you walk on it, you can split the fracture and make it worse.
When I sprained my ankles, they hurt REALLY bad, but I was still able to limp around on them.
Make sure to keep it elevated, wrap it in, and ice it on and off. Try to get to a doctor to get an xray if that's possible. If it's just sprained, it could take 3-4 weeks to heal. If it's broken, it can take a LOT longer. Just make sure not to use it..

Yes It is possible to walk on a broken ankle but I don't think you broken it because if you did it would not be that swallen. I know because I have been have problem with my left ankle and I walked On it for 3 weeks before I when to a doc. I thought it was broke to but it was not in fact all that had was a every weak ankle and I also found out that I am flat footed but I am not a doc. But I know a website that may point you in the right way. Go to this website (http://www.webmd.com/hw/muscle_problems/aa12986.asp) That should help hope you get better! ~lovedolphins90~

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

Since it is already been traumatized by a force. Do you think the proper way to treat your injury is to : pack it with ice, elevate it, and go see a doctor? Then let the doctor advise you whether to walk (put your weight) on an injured body part.
Good luck , and Happy New Year.

It's possible, just very very painful. If it just happened, keep ice on it for 15 minutes an hour see if it feels better tomorrow. If it still hurts, you should probably see your doctor.
