what do you think of this match? it seems like i really like and am 10x more turned on by italian guys than any other "group" out there. i am not really religious, but was raised jewish and there are often cultural similarities between the two groups (esp w/ food and mother personalities) than the average christian family.

Jewish is more of a cultural thing in my case, like I said... to those of you who were confused by the religious mix, just read the other posts. Also, yes jewish parents try to enforce that you stay w/in your own religion since there are hardly any Jews left. Jewish guys dont really do it for me though overall, but all of my jewish friends did marry (or are engaged to) jewish guys.

In my opinion, it's a perfect match. My brother married a Jewish girl.
Just the thing to keep him in line, and she's great for making him happy - they are both great cooks, that's about all they have in common but theyv'e been happily married for over 15 years!
The Italian can be a little possessive of his girl, but if that's fine with you, go for it! If your family don't like it, well too bad. Ultimately, you have to live your own life, and find your own happiness. Same for the Italian guy, whose family might not like someone whose not Catholic to marry into the family(anyway, most Italians I know are Catholic, but not all).
Too bad for them. Whether you marry or just date, it should be personal preference regarding who you see as a mate!

I think the Jews are the ones that pretty much try to isolate themselves from other people, not the other way around. If you want to marry an Italian guy, go for it, what's stopping you? I think your family would be more against it than his. Jews seem to be extremely protective of their culture, and try to stick with their own, while Italians seem to be the more laid back of the Caucasoid group....at least that's what I've noticed in my 32 years of life. And that's not anti-Jew, that's just the facts.

I'm puzzled. You consider yourself jewish but you don't follow the jewish religion. He's Italian but we don't know what religion he is. Why is it a question for you whether you should "match" this guy or not? Is it because of your family? His family? Over what religion your children will be raised? Unless you narrow down in your own mind what are the pros and cons of making a relationship across cultural barriers, you don't have an intelligent question.

I believe that two people can get along well no matter what their origin, race, color or religion is, as long as their minds are open and tolerant. So I see no reason why your match shouldn't work;)
However, beingTurkish/Italian, I know Italian men and I really can't understand why foreign women like Italian men so much; some of them may be handsome (never as much as Turks, Israelis and Blacks though;) but they really don't know how to treat and respect women! They have a great sense of humor but they're arrogant and unpolite! There are some exceptions too of course, but they're too few to bring the average up;) One suggestion: try a Turkish man and you'll feel like a real queen;)

There will be problems because most Italians are devout Catholics. The Catholic church is not very friendly to Jews. There are enough conflicts and problems in a marriage without adding religious differences.
The Jewish faith is becoming weak because of all of the intermarriage in the US. Keep the faith.Find a nice Jewish guy.

I think it's a perfect match....Italians and Jewish people have the same time of upbringing, same type of moms and definitely the same sense of humor....I think it will be perfect and challenging at the same time....good luck...I am from Italian descent and have always worked for Jewish people, I think they are both funny with an unmatchable sense of humor and love for their families...so go for it, again good luck.

Being an Italian guy I can tell you I have been with many Jewish girls over the years and they have been some of my favorite relationships. I have never had any problems with family over this. After all, we are all Mediteraneans.
