It's not the brand that matters, it's the components. Of course, some companies aren't known for putting together the best of components in a system. Often, you don't even know what the power supply wattage is, much less what brand the hard drive, memory, etc. are. If you really want a very good gaming system, without paying an arm and a leg, you either need to buy the components and build it yourself, or to go one of the lesser known companies. Gentechpc.com is a good one.

The best computer for gameing is one that you would build yourself. It would be just as good as any alienware but would be much cheaper. There are plenty of guides on the net to help you build.
