Check with a medical supply place. They may take them on trade-in, if not they probably can direct you to a cheap one.

I'm going to begin by telling you a little about autoclaves, since you said you don't know anything about them. Autoclaves are defined as "a heavy vessel for conducting chemical reactions under high pressure." and "an apparatus in which steam under pressure effects sterilization." (dictionary.com)

You know what your shop needs are; start looking online to see what's the lowest common denominator to fit all your needs. Check online ratings and cosmetology magazines; don't rely solely on ads. You may want a heat sterilizer instead of an autoclave; check with your state and local requirements.

New equipment will start at around $300, I *think.* If you don't see the one you want or need on Craigslist, eBay, or Yahoo! auctions, you can see if the manufacturers have refurbished ones. If a local tattoo shop is upgrading, they may be selling smaller, used equipment, and you might get lucky there. eBay is NOT the only place to look, in answer to your question; an online search will bring up tons of hits.

Make sure you learn how to use it; there's no point in buying expensive equipment if you're not going to have sterile tools when you're done.

Once you get it, see if your local health ordinances require spore tests to be done every month. If they do, make sure you have them done.

You don't say what state you're in, but I found some autoclave Q&A for Texas that might answer some of your technical questions, since you said you don't know anything about autoclaves. The link is in my Know Your Source.

If autoclaves aren't required in your area, make sure that you tell people that you have one and that you're using it. It will give you an edge over similar salons in the same price category. (I chose my salon because everything is sterilized, AND I told everyone that that's why I chose it.)

Good luck with your business.

maximum Nail Salon provides a foot spa. why dont you're attempting that somewhat of having a pedicure? the idea-about a guy having thier nails painted is type of a turn off. Ask your spouse back if she needs to avail the nail spa certificate. if not. flow there and search for different facilities they have! :)
