My husband tends to collect friends who are obsessed with computer games, and while i like gaming, too, I need more than that. I'm moving from a very small town to Orlando, and other than my husband, I only have a small number of friends, who live across the country, and whom I never talk to anymore. I'm hoping to find some friends in Orlando, but I don't know how to approach people in such a way as to not scare them off. I've been a reject/loner since I was about 8 years old, and was incredibly lucky to find my husband, who understands me. But I still need people I can talk to, about things that don't interest him, or whatever. Girlfriends, I guess, is what I want. My biggest problem is I think I get too excited when people actually talk to me, and I end up making them think I'm crazy. If you have an idea, I'd appreciate it. I have hobbies, but they tend to be 1-person kind of things. I'm just not used to being around people who don't already know me. Thanks guys.

Well if you have hobbies then there will certainly be groups of people that have the same interests and you could join one as a way of meeting new people. Not only might you learn more about your hobbies but you may indeed meet people whom you can befriend. Another idea might be to do some volunteer work. By doing so you would be helping out people less fortunate then yourself but once again may find a new friend. It is difficult at times, especially when your a little shy, to meet new people. But if you are able to either join a group or volunteer you will certainly extend your social network. Best of luck.

your not even an adult....your still so young!! as am I...i am 20!

See i am the typical party girl. i have a frat boyfriend. i love going out. dancing bars...blah. the whole thing. so i meet tons of people that way. Plus befopre i left my university bc i had to switch majors i was going to join a sorority which you make TONS of friends in.

anyways i prolly get that that is NOT you. I saw u said u have hobbies, but one person? obviously it doesnt occupy a ton of time bc u want ppl around you. What about at work? friends there? people u can talk to? orlando is a big city too, maybe get a job where there is a ton of communication w people, diff types of people too. Or a different hobby like taking a class.....yoga, pilates, fitness, a course at a university, snorkling? parasailing? there has to be a ton to do out that way. or even soemthing like as a couple, a couple thing w your husband! IDK what that could be. me and my bf bowl. it is a ton of fun and you could get on a league. it owuld be fun to learn together.

i hope this helps!!!

If you like sports you can make friends that way. Volleyball is a great ice breaker, volunteer work help with fund raisers, even if you get into a political group. But one thing you have to do is reach out to other people and they will do the same.

Well.., if you're scaring them off, then you must be acting desperate or something!! Calm down and be cool. Talk normal, be yourself, things will happen. Good Luck!!
