If I understand your question correctly, "I" is the first person singular and "we" the first person plural.

I'm confused; is this an English question or a history question?

"First person" in English is the use of personal pronouns which refer to oneself or a group in which we're part: I, me, my, mine, ours.

Historically, the first person (by the reckoning of the major monotheistic religions, anyway) would be Adam, the first man created by God (Biblically in Genesis 1:27 and 2:7, but not actually named until 2:19).

If you speak in the fist person you are talking about yourself, as in " i will look at...." Most university's and colleges do not like students to speak in the first person, prefering students to say things such as " This essay will look at" To remove use of the first person you should have no, "I"s or "WE"'s. You can get word to check for first person language in the spell checker.
