There are many good pitchers in baseball that I would pick at the top of my rotation, though the best one and my first choice would be Roy Halladay from Toronto.
When healthy, he is the best in baseball. He is the perfect ace. He eats up innings, goes deep into games, low pitch counts, works fast, throws alot of strikes, gets alot of groundballs, throws unhittable stuff. He is flat out amazing.
Last season, he could have won a Cy Young award, if he didn't run into bad luck at the end of the year and if did not get injured. Look in 2003, when he won a cy young. He had an amazing season, pitching 266 innings, 9 complete games, including a 10 inning shutout vs Detroit. He went 22-7 with a 3.25 ERA. Have you seen Santana ever throw 9 complete games in one season, or pitch that amount of innings? Even though Santana gets more strikeouts (which fantasy owners like), Halladay works fast, pitching to contact, so he could go deeper into games, giving his team a better chance to win. Remember Opening Day 2006, Halladay vs Santana? Halladay won that matchup!
In 2007, I think he will win the Cy Young award. Overall, Halladay is the best pitcher in baseball and would be the pitcher I would build my rotation around.

Johan Santana has shown over time that he is the most consistently great pitcher today. He can start Game 7 for me any day.

Johan Santana hands down. He's head and shoulders above anyone else who's even in the same stratosphere and...the kicker...he's a lefty!
My Top 10.
1) Johan Santana
2) Roy Halladay
3) Carlos Zambrano
4) Jake Peavy
6) Francisco Liriano
7) Scott Kazmir
8) Chris Carpenter
9) Brandon Webb
10) Roger Clemens (only this low b/c he might retire...again) or Roy Oswalt (assuming Clemens retires, if not Oswalt is #11)

Johan Santana is the best pitcher in baseball. His stats are amazing right now and I can't even begin to imagine how good his numbers would be if he pitched in the NL.

I'm a bit of a homer so I'm gonna say Roy Oswalt of the Astros. I know Johan and Halladay are great pitchers but Oswalt is amazing. The guy doesnt quite throws his *** off every game and gives you a chance to win every time he's out there. If i had to choose a rotation today id go with Oswalt Santana Halladay Clemens and Schilling...pretty damn sick

Johan Santana of the Twins. That man is nasty, nasty, nasty. He just about sneaks up on everyone because he plays in Minnesota. It is almost as though one needs to wear a skirt when they get into the batter's box against him when he is on the mound. Because he will be Santana's *****. LOL
