The team with the worst record gets to pick first. The team that wins the Super Bowl gets to pick last. The team that is second to last gets the second pick, the team that is third to last gets third pick, etc.

#32 team 1st pick Superbowl winner pick last but the #32 doesn´t always pick the best player like last season that the Texans picked Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush I believe that the Lions will not pick Brady Quinn because they choose what they need and Jon Kitna didn´t made a bad job but however the raiders I think they will pick Brady they make this it´s supposed to make the league more competitive but they do exactly the opossite because there are players on the pick 15 or 25 that are better than the pick 1 or 2 because the ncaa is very different that is very unfair Texans with 1 or 2 wins I don´t remember how many took a player that didn´t do anything on the entire season and the Colts took Joseph Addai !

The team that has the worst record gets 1st pick and the rest of the picks go like that. Unless teams trade up and they trade either a player or a draft pick for a higher pick. P.S Brady Quinn will most likely go to the raiders or lions lol

the worst record in the league gets the first pick. So the Raiders and Lions are 1 and 2. The team that wins the superbowl gets the last pick.

They do it so that the teams with the worst records have the opportunity to get the better players and increase their chance to have a better record the next year. But the players can make deals so they can try to play for the teams they want. Ask Eli Manning how that turned out? My chargers got the better deal in that trade. But they do it that way so the Teams that win the superbowl cant hoard all the good players. It kind of makes it fair. But there are great players that go in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds of the draft, so hopefully whatever team you like will get someone that will help your team.

You "earn " your pick based on performance. The worse you are...the better the draft position. Prepare to get "pissed" Quinn will be going somewhere (like the Lions or Raiders...although i am betting Cleveland) and play on a team that sucks. Thats the reward for being one of the top rated players going into the draft.

As stated, it's by record, though teams can trade draft picks in future years, where their place in the draft will be determined by the team that originally held the pick (e.g. if the Lions trade their first round pick next year to Denver, that pick in next year's draft would be based on Detroit's record, not Denver's).
And don't think teams like Philadelphia haven't had high picks. Donovan McNabb was the third pick in the year he was drafted; Peyton Manning was drafted first by the Colts.

the team with higher picks are the teams with the most losses that year, the raiders heve the first pick because they were 2-14 which was the worst record, and quinn will go to detroit

they go by how good the teams are...the worst team needs the most help, so they get first pick.
they take the standings, and flip them (team 32 gets pick 1, etc)
that's why like the patriots never get first pick, because their never the worst.
also-the raiders are getting first pick, the lions second
