"Hollywood liberals" is a common term.... why do you think artistic people have the tendency to be socialist, support helping the lower class and freedom from religious oppression...
on the other hand non-artistic people tend to support the upper class and limiting taxation to the upper class. Also, limiting personal freedoms, such as abortion, gay marriage, and drugs...

Independant, creative thought. The artists abilities aren't in his/her hands (or however they express themselves). Their primary ability is their ability to truly see what they're looking at.
Most people don't. They see what they have always assumed they're looking at.

Because, if you use the dictionary definition of liberal, it means "open minded." (Look it up, right-wingers, before you slam me!) And most "artists" tend to be open-minded. But people have distorted the meaning of the word so that people will equate the term "liberal" with being a Democrat. And "artistic people," in general, do not have the tendency to be socialist. I don't know which talk-show host you got that one from!

Hitler was a crappy artist. people that are more curious have the ability to see the different shades of gray and are likely to see things from more perspectives than conservatives...it's not necessarily that one is smarter, it's just that it's a basic way of looking from the outside in, not the inside out...Liberals are by nature more curious about the world and actually look back at the cave entrance

The socialist part of your question throws me a little. But responding to the other, in order to be an artist you must have an open mind and the ability to see situations from different perspectives. This happen to be liberal traits as well.

Because they live on trust funds. Just go to Sedona Arizona, Taos, Santa Fe New Mexico, or Aspen Colorado. Your income is through a trust fund but when people ask what you do. You tell them you are an artist

I think that is a gross exageration. One prominent and hugely influential artist is Andrew Lloyd-Webber and he is a conservative. There are plenty of conservative actors in Hollywood too. Bruce Willis and Clint Eastwood for example.
There is nothing liberal about socialism either.
And furthermore having a too open mind about things is the definition of stupidity.

Being a liberal is a far stretch from being a socialist, though nice buzz words!
I suspect that the average liberal is smarter than the average Republican, as borne out of the average IQ's of those in states who voted for Bush in 2000 and had average IQ's in the 90's!
Fascist are fascist! They aren't able to think with any rationality as they are too busy running around covering up their lies!
