A question about food stamps?

why come my friend who has 3 kids and a job only get $90 a month in foodstamps and my great grandmother was only getting $10 a month but i see ppl with the same amount of kids not trying to work and can get a whole lot more. I am not trying to talk about anybody i just don't get it my friend really needs help.

They base it off of income..if your friend is making more than a certain amount according to whichever state you live in they'll cut the amount. I knew this girl a while back who had 2 kids and she was getting $405 a month in food stamps...but then she got a job making 13 an hour...guess what? food stamps, no mas. Now she's struggling to buy groceries, gas etc...they allmost make it to where if you try and get out of the hole youre in you'll lose in the end..thats why alot of people decide to not work..i kinda understand it...even if my friend had made 10 an hour they wouldve cut her food stamps..everyone with sense knows that you cant take care a family of 3 with no 13 an hour...the state helping her with daycare, gone, the state giving her formula for her baby gone, all because she tried to do better for herself...as sad as it sounds, she was doing better when she was making minimum wage...thats how jacked up the system is...its either let us take care of you and be comfortable, or try and take care of yourself and be struggling to pay your light bill.

does ur friend have a foodbank in her town ..she can get food there free. The kids should be able to get free breakfast and lunch at school.. If the children are under 5, she can get WIC.(milk, cheese, eggs, etc. ) . I am on dis. and I make $30 a month.. that doesn't cover the meat, little on the milk, fruit, vegetables. etc. A person has to work to get food stamps as LONG as the child is in school (5-up)... if there kids are under 5, she doesn't have to.. If they are over 5, she's supposed to be working.. She may be one that is trying to screw the system.. without knowing their circumstances I could not say.. Just don't assume she doesn't want to work...I don't look disabled but I am and she may be.. If u think fraud is being committed report it.. It's not fair.. My aunt needed food stamps temp. a few years back.. they told her she would have to sell her house that she worked all her life to buy so she could get $12 or so of food stamps... HOW pathetic... People that really really need it don't get any at all or get just a little bit like your grandma.. She buys a lot on that $10 doesn't she and on $90 for 3 kids...those kids are going to eat REAL healthy aren't they...I wish I knew the answer but as long as we have REP in office who don't care about poor people, it's going to get worse.. FOr every illegal alien that gets food stamps, ours have to be cut to pay for theirs.. (they should not get them in the first place)..

Thankfully, I have never been in a position to need them.
I think the amount one gets is based on income and number of dependants.

I have no idea- I have never taken public assistance. I leave that for the people like them that truly need it.

how much you get a month is based off of how much you make a month.
