Remember, you are in charge of the car not the examiner. You have paid for the test, the examiner is only there because you have parted with money, so get your moneys worth.
Think of him/her as a satnav, simply giving out directions or instructions. You then decide how to do what they've asked you to do.
If you think you are going to fluff a manoeuvre, lets say reversing around a corner, stop the car before it goes wrong and think what you need to do to correct it. Ask the examiner if you can do it again as you realised it was going wrong.
If you do something wrong the examiner may put you in the same situation again to see if you get it right the next time. So if you know you've made a mistake don't assume you've failed, just get it right next time. If you realise as soon as you've made a mistake that you've done it, comment on it "Whoops, wrong gear there, sorry" that lets them know that you know, if you see what I mean!
Remember they are not looking for perfection, there is no such thing as a perfect driver. They are making sure that you are SAFE to drive.

I have an anxiety disorder and so it took me three times to be calm enough to take the darn test.
I found that humming to myself or thinking of my favorite song helped a lot since I got marked off the first time for having music. Also, just try to make the drive as liquid as possible, no jerky movements. My saving grace was that I was extremely polite to the instructor and I listened very closely. This made her more willing to actually chance putting me on the road again. Also, MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THE CAR THAT YOU ARE DRIVING!!! Super important. The more confident you are in what you are doing and that you will do it well, the more likely you are to pass.
Also, chewing gum helped. Not bubble gum and no bursting bubbles.
No matter what, just try to have fun with it. I know that sounds impossible, but it is the best advice that I can give you.
Good LUCK!!!

Only one tip or piece of advise
Listen to absolutely nobody on here and do EXACTLY what your instructor has taught you all these weeks and no more that that. Don't try to impress with anything that your "mate" tells you. The examiners have seen it all before and failed many. Simply put "Do what you have been taught"
He knows what he is doing and there is no one else qualified to tell you how to pass more than him or her
Nerves can always get the better of you then deep breaths before you start and hope that the examiner is one that understands you are in a nervous position and helps put you at ease.
Remember do what you have been taught and very good luck

Being a bit nervous is normal. The adrenalin helps your mind and body work harder. Just make sure that you have plenty of practice so you'll appear confident. When you look in the mirror, make sure you make it obvious for your examiner to see.... Start telling yourself how good you are...we've all been there. Be confident! (I wont say good luck because you won't need it...)

Why not try taking something like "Calms"? If you take them for the week before your test, you may find that they help. Good luck though.

Think of a tune you like and hum it to yourself all the way through the test.
I passed on the third attempt.
Good luck
