I have 2 hatchling corn snakes. One of them is the sweetest and nicest snake ever but, the other one is very aggresive (not to the other snake). The breeder we got him from says he is very nice and docile but, the way I see this corn snake is very angry and snappy. You touch him once and he is already stiking at you. The tempature in the cage is perfect and if it wasn't my other snake would be acting up. I was hmy hands before and after I try to put my hand in the cage but, he just starts to rattle his tail and stikes at me. I'm trying to just put my hand in the cage and have him get used to it but, it isn't working.

I sort of came attached with him and we got him from a out of state breeder, plus I don't want to put my other corn snake through more stress.

I personally don't have any experience with snakes, but I found a couple of sites with a TON of information about taming reptiles. Maybe this will help...

Sometimes it just takes a little longer to get them used to being handled. I know it's just a corn snake but, you may need to get a snake hook. This way you can pick it up without it knowing it's you. It is probably afraid of your hand so it's gets really defensive. So once you take it out with the hook it should be calm enough to hold in your hand. But, be slow and steady about it. Pick it up by the tail end instead of the head so it doesn't see you. Hold it for a couple of minutes then put it back. Do this every couple of days. Eventually it will get used to you. But you may never be able to pick it up intially without the snake hook.

We have a rainbow boa who does not liked to be handled and, as soon as we take him out with the hook he calms down and we are able to hold him.

The snake hooks are cheap especially for the little ones so go and get one. It's worth a try right??

Keep trying. Don't just give up on your snake. They are non-poisonous and don't hurt to bad if you get bitten. Snakes can sense fear. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T LET YOUR SNAKE GO IN THE WILD.

Sometimes you'll get a dud! We've had many and each had a different personality. They're all different. I agree with the person who suggested you go back to the breeder and see if you can find a nicer one.

It's most likely just a grumpy snake in general. It's probably not your fault- some snakes just don't like to be handled, and tend to not like humans in general. =p

hi there
keep on trying ... get a front door enclosure less threatening then a top door .. also it might be that the corn might be in a shed they become more skittish during this time.... good luck and be patient with it...

GO BACK WHERE YOU BOUGHT THE SNAKE FROM AND ASK THEM WHAT TO DO AND IF POSSIBLE CAN YOU TRADE IT FOR ANOTHER ONE. THAT ISN'T AGGRESSIVE.
