She can't see the heartbeat or can't hear the heartbeat, she wont be able to hear it until you're about 12-14 weeks pregnant depending on the amount of fatty tissues you have blocking the doppler. My doc didn't even try until i was 14 weeks just because she didn't want to freak me out if she couldnt' hear it. You can see the heartbeat in U/S with a good system at about 6weeks if the baby is in the right position. I'd be asking her why she can't see it.... that might make you feel better.

is there something wrong with you? just cant understand why you would get a scan at 6 weeks when the first scan is 12 weeks?
but hope everything is ok with the baby
searched the net found this
Detecting a Heartbeat
The baby's heart beat can be seen on an ultrasound at around 7 weeks, and if you are very slim MAY be heard on a doppler from 9 or 10 weeks.
Here is more advice and input:
Most Heartbeats can be heard by 15/16 weeks.
My doctor wasn't able to hear my babies until I was about 3-4 months pregnant.
It is most generally possible to begin to hear the baby's heart beat at the beginning of your second trimester, however sometimes it is possible to hear it a couple of weeks before or after these daytes as well. It most likely depends on the size of the baby and how quickly it is growing in each individual person. I personally heard my baby's heart beat the first time at 14 weeks with my first, 13 weeks with my second and 10 weeks pregnant with my current pregnancy.
You can start to hear the babies heartbeat through ultrasound as soon as 6 weeks into your pregnancy! A doppler can start to pick up a heartbeat at around 10-14 weeks into your pregnancy. A stethoscope can be used to hear the baby's heartbeat late in the pregnancy.
If you have an early scan it can be seen from about 6 weeks. If listening with a doppler and you are very slim sometimes (not always) it can be heard from about 8 weeks. A midwife listening with a Pinard can hear it from about 22-24 weeks.
You may be able to see it on an ultrasound at about 7 weeks but unless you are very thin you won't be able to hear it with a doppler until about 10 weeks, possibly later. Until 12 weeks the uterus is still in the pelvis and the heart is very small and the machine has to be pointed directly at the heart so the sound is reflected, unlike a microphone.

at 6 weeks and three days I bled, so I went to the early pregnancy unit and to confirm that I was still pregnant they decided to do a internal scan (is that what you had) she said an normal ultra sound wouldnt be able to pick up the feotus yet as it was too early. During the Internal scan they picked up a quick pace flashing which they confirmed was a heartbeat....she was so pleased she was able to see it that early that she went and got a colleague to have a look. What Im saying is surely if it was lucky to have it picked up and my Doctor was impresssed that she'd picked it up so early then your Doctor shouldnt be worrying you at this early stage that she cant see it. It only starts to begin fluttering at 5 weeks so 6 weeks is early to pick it up. Im a little distressed for you that your Doctor didnt say "well we havent picked up a heart-beat yet but thats not unusual at this stage". It seems like your Doctor is possibly worrying you unnessacarily? I You might get better answers to this question if you add more detail and explain what explanation your Doctor gave you for not picking up the heart-beat. Also just to confirm you meant that she couldnt see it because at this early stage, theres NO WAY they could expect to hear it. I was told that the earliest they could do that is 10 weeks, and thats if they are lucky. Goodluck.xx

If all the doctor said was that she could not hear the heartbeat yet I don't think it is anything to worry about. If that was a problem she would have told you.
I have two children and my doctor never even attempted to hear it until i was 14 weeks, because the foetus is so small the heartbeat isn,t strong enough to hear over all the other noises going on in your stomach.
Don't worry just enjoy your precious gift.

Yes, this would be very unlikely to hear a babies heart beat that Early. I have been able to get a heart beat as early as 10 weeks with a Doppler but it is very very faint. No way at 6 or 7 weeks. Everything will be fine.

Its okay for right now. they will do more blood work in about a week, and another ultrasound.
Its quite possible that you're not quite as pregnant as the hormones and ultrasound indicates. Often its 6-8 weeks before the heart kicks in. Its not five weeks. It CAN happen that early, even at 4 weeks, but in a lot of cases its longer. Dont listen to that first answer :)
So for now, be pregnant, and wait until you know something more. Save your sanity :)

If they didnt do a vaginal ultrasound then it is too early to be able to hear. the only way u can hear it right now is by the vaginal u/s...if they did it the abdominal way then they should have been able to see it beating at this time. Did they say it was beating and they could SEE it? u should call your doctor if u are worried and ask them if the pregnancy is viable..good luck.

Did they schedule you for a repeat u/s? Was the sac visible and did it look like something was inside it? Did they have good equipment? Really the next step for you is to have a repeat u/s...but if the sac and development looked normal things may well be fine.
Don't worry too much yet. Miscarriage is awful...I have been there...but it does happen for a reason and doesn't mean you can't have healthy children.
I pray everything is fine for you!!!

That is OK. I was 10 weeks and she could not hear the heartbeat. It is very common and you have nothing to worry about. It will be fine and you will hear the heartbeat soon. Congrats.
