i try to picture this person in my mind - i know it sounds silly, but i always hopes to make a spiritual contact with the other person.

Keep busy - take a deep breath every now and then and think of the good times you've had. It gets easier but perhaps never totally goes away... it's part of life... I hope it gets easier for you soon.

do something that will keep you busy; help others; read a good book, go out;
what NOT TO DO: think how much are you missing this person.

If I'm not going to speak to this person, I'll just go do something else; such as going shopping, answering questions here, reading a book (rare), studying (rarer), watch TV, or talk to someone else.

If there is reason to contact them I do. If it is a break-up where contact is not a good idea, I busy myself with other things, like answering questions.

I usually look at a picture with that person or at something that that person gave me.

Listen to music that reminds me of them and just think about them and imagine what we would be doing if we were together.
