I'm in my final (3rd) year of University, on track for a mid-to-low 2:2. I was given this estimate at the end of my second year, which I basically spent messing around. I vowed to myself that in my third year there'd be no messing around or slacking, because if I wanted to do a Masters I'd need a minimum 2:1. So I worked my butt off, tried my best, really put 101% in to my essays. I had to get 65 for each one to have any hope of a final 2:2.

I've just got them back and got 52 for one and 58 for another. Now there is no mathematical possibility of me getting a 2:1, which I was really aiming for, and will instead get a lower-than-average 2:2 grade. Whatever I do now, no matter how hard I try on my remaining essays, I can't get a 2:1; I got the same marks trying really hard as I did when I was a total slacker- I just have no natural talent for the academic task at hand.

I'm not going to quit Uni, and I'll see my course though- but to what end, in your opinion? I've wasted 3 years.

I know I can still get a good job with a 2:2, that isn't the point; I have had no result from pulling my finger out and trying my damned best for a better grade- I've let myself down big time, but at the same time put all my effort in to doing well!

Have you a similar experience? Thanks!

Stick with it. A degree is better than no degree. Good luck!

I was thrown out of college at the end of my second year because of a drinking problem years ago, but you have stuck it well so far. Keep up the good work and always look on the bright side if you possibly can.You seem to be doing that anyway which is great. There will be many an opportunity after you have graduated. Try not to worry because there are endless opportunities out there.

At the end of the day, employers will look at the fact you have a University degree..not what grades you have. To get the degree demonstrates committment and knowledge. By sticking it out, you are making yourself more employable. The 3 years have been far from a waste. Good luck to you...

if you've tried your hardest then you haven't let anyone down and you haven't wasted 3 years, with all the struggles that go along with uni you've survived and come through it ,many people pack in after a year so well done you and good luck for what ever you decide to do in the future

dont' see this as a bad reflection on yourself. the most important thing is not only that you have worked hard to your potential, you are still leaving with a degree. regardless of whether it is a 2.2. remember, there have been people who went to university and of whom decided to drop out in the middle of their studies, and have therefore not graduated with honours. like yourself, i am currently in my final year as well, and although i predict i will graduate with a 2.2, i will keep plugging away and work to my strengths. i'd suggest you do the same. try not to focus on the 2.2 mark but on your studies. it is very important that you remain focus on what you're doing and to give 110%. you for one have NOT wasted 3 years. at least you for one didn't drop out during the 2nd year.

i think what you need is someone to look over your work, of whom are able to spot mistakes and suggest ways for you to improve on your work. you should ask someone in your course, who is very good at writing essays and things like that, just they could assist you and offer advice. the sooner you seek help, the better. and btw good for you for sticking it out: you just need to keep plugging away and for a lecturer to be able to guide you in the right direction. i wish you well, keep studying hard! trust me, if you do this, you will feel fine. best of luck!
