These tests are based on measurement of heart rate and blood pressure. The basic premise is that if you begin to feel jittery, presumably while lying, then the machine will register your nervousness. The tester first calibrates the machine to ascertain what your "norms" are for resting and lying. Then they use these norms to detect abnormalcies during the testing. A good liar may be able to control their responses and "pass the test".
In all truth, if you don't trust him enough to feel that you should have him tested for lying, then he's not the fella for you!

Lie detectors dont actually test whether or not you are lying, they test how stressed your body gets when answering certain questions. See when a person is lying and they are aware they are lying then the body gets a little stressed inside that you cant notice just by looking at someone. The lie detector machine will notice if the person's stress level rises when answering a question. If the stress does not rise, they are telling the truth, if it does, then they are lying. This machine is not always a hundred percent accurate because some people are so trained to lie that their body does not get stressed about it therefore making the machine look like they are telling the truth. However, the normal person isnt nearly that well trained, this is typically people like spies and FBI and such. My opinion is that he is telling the truth. Good luck with that

I can beat one in a flash..........it uses input from bio-scans of a person's heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, breathing rate, skin humidity, (sweat reflex), etc. All VARIABLES ! Meaning that through meditation and mental exercise, a person can learn to do several tricks to "fool" the examiner. Why the examiner? Because he is the man who will INTERPRET the results.
Some of these tricks include self-control techniques- breathing, blood pressure, heart rate. Also a person with sociopathic tendacies will have the ability to convince themselves that what they are saying is the undeniable truth. Through either a lack of moral conscience or some delusional fantasy created in the mind.
I must admit to a little of both in my own situation. I have the ability to control my physiological responses during questioning. And I have a rather productive imagination. Allowing me to create a perfect mental rendering of MY version of the answer. Thereby giving me the sense of realism it takes to confidently "believe" what I am remembering as the basis for my answers.

A little complicated and not something the average person has the ability to do. (Not to say that I am above average. I have taught myself these things.) But, with the right combination of these tricks and an unyeilding confidence in your self, you can give results that will at the least be inconclusive, and sometimes be "Proof" that you are being "honest".

I would say that your boyfriend is most likely being honest with you. Unless you have suspicions that he is also a sociopath of some degree, with a talent for imagining. Good luck!

more accurate than you think... they read a pulse, and when someone is lying their pulse raises making the computer in the lie detecter make different lines that professionals know how to use.
