Are there like any special needs such as living space for ferrets?

Basicly all I want to know is if I get a ferret what would I need to do for him/her. Like would I have to play with it 17 hours a day, what type of living space, things like that because my family and I are looking into getting one. =D

Ferrets can make wonderful, loving pets. That being said, you and your family need to consider if you are truly going to have the time and money to care for your new pet throughout his life. Ferrets are extremely social animals and require several hours a day of supervised playtime (out of the cage). Ideally they should also be fed a high protein diet specifically formulated for ferrets...such as "Totally Ferret" which you can get at most pet stores.

Possibly the biggest concern may be financial. Your ferret WILL require surgery at some point in it's life. That's just a fact! Many ferrets develop "adrenal disease" which requires a surgery to remove one or both adrenal glands. Depending on your area, this can cost anywhere between $300-600 dollars. There is also the possibility of an enlarged spleen or obstructed intestinal tract requiring further surgery which can cost several hundred more. I'm not trying to scare you away from a ferret....i just want to make sure you and your family carefully consider the long term investments that may be required.

Bottom line, a ferret is a wonderful pet, as long as you understand what you're getting into. I would strongly encourage you to consider adopting from a local ferret shelter in your area. The people there are ferret experts who can answer any questions you have and help you pick the perfect little guy or girl for your family.

they need a large cage, a litter box, a bed, ferret food, litter, toys, and a leash and harness if you plan on letting it play outside. They need a lot of attention, but more than that, they need supervision. Mine learned to open her cage and would hide food all over the house. I had to find her hiding places and clean them often. Keep in mind that ferrets have seven scent glands and only two of them are removed when the ferret is descented. They MUST be spayed or neutered if you are not planning of breeding them. Males smell really really bad if they are not neutered. Females will actually DIE if they are not spayed or bred. Try spending some time with a ferret before you decide if you can handle a pet like that. Good luck.

Ferrets are great; I own one myself & they are wonderful pets as long as you have enough time & money to spend. They need AT LEAST 4 hours out of the cage to play. You should require a fairly large cage for them to be able to move around comfortably; a hammock is a MUST in my opinion. You need to think food, water bottles, TOYS, vet bills, litter box & litter. If you ask me; it's best to buy all these products that are designed for ferrets; sure toys & litter are fine but they do require special food, medications & other things like shampoo. If you use cat food or shampoo your pet might not be getting the nutrients it needs or it might be too strong. Ferrets dont smell all that bad as long as you keep their cage clean; scooping the litter box daily is a MUST. Make sure you have enough time, patients & willingness to care for your new pet because they do require quite a bit of work but in the end; it's worth it :]

i won't be able to assert that your mom merits a trip simply by fact i don't be responsive to the way your loved ones purposes as an entire. i'm a mom myself and that i've got seen those mothers who actual do not DESERVE a trip and that i do pity the little ones. I merely think of that's humorous how every physique who has spoke back to you, has achieved so with a tinge of negativity. I DO even although, think of that even if you won't be waiting to alter your mothers strategies, you will desire to choose her properly considering you never be responsive to what can happen. As for what you will desire to do, spend and cherish time which includes your father! The years will start to fly quickly and you will finally end up questioning what would have got here approximately in case you purely had greater time. merely stay constructive, don't be jealous, be happy which you nonetheless have time which includes your mum and dad and on precise of all that, make Italy a purpose! paintings stressful via existence and you will pay your guy or woman way sooner or later!
