How's your distributor? Sometimes the cover gets cracked, and moisture gets in...causing problems with spark. Could also be the distributor contacts too. Might want to open it up and see if you notice any visible sign right away of a problem area. How old are your spark plug wires and sparkplugs? I'd investigate those too, since you say your battery is okay, but your spark is not.

Try a new coil pack that you could buy from your nearest Ford dealer. This is a modern type distributor providing your engines vital spark. This is a common fault on your zetec engine. Failing that have your ecu checked at a Ford dealer.
Also your crank sensor could be preventing your car starting.

without wanting to be to obvious, low spark? get new spark plugs!!!
broken alternator, flat battery.
faulty distributor, no spark.

had this problem once my problem was the pick up module their not expensive but cause a lot of problems when they go bad
