I'm totally ready to be viciously attacked, but I've always wondered..isn't being gay just another sexual perversion, like a foot fetish,beastiality, child molestation? Of course it's more socially acceptable because it's between consenting people, but really, what's the difference? People are sexually attracted to animals,feet,children, same sex,what's the difference,besides the consenting part?

You're the one who said you must be nuts, but I'll assume you really meant this question honestly. Sexual orientation is different from a fetish. Fetish is when you become aroused sexually by an object, situation, etc. - I'm not exactly sure if psychiatry has defined it as a perversion or not, but anyone can have a fetish - gay or straight. Sexual orientation on the other hand is something that is most likely a combination of genetics and environmental factors, and I believe is part of the natural order of things. It makes sense that not all members of a species would be inclined to propogate otherwise we'd have overpopulation and the extinction of our species. If you really want to learn about this, maybe you can take a class on human sexuality. There are scientific answers to questions like these - religion and common sense responses based on people's prejudices end up doing more harm than good.

What is a perversion? Isn't that a little subjective?
In my definition, the only thing that is truly a perversion is things that are purposefully harmful or done with non-consenting partners (including animals, the dead, and children- all who can't give honest-to-goodness consent). In my opinion, that's a VERY big difference. The lack of consent makes a little bit of a weird predilection turn into a horrible act.

The comparasons you make are interesting especially since it is straight people, just like you, who are the child molesters. But it is a sexual orientation rather than a pervion. But then one mans orientation is anothers pervsion. Some people think sex in any other position than missionary position is a perversion. Also, should you be interested, Pope Gregory the Great decreed that anyone having sex would not be allowed into heaven since only beasts of the field had sex. A Pope deciding that sex in any manner was a pervsion. Go for it guy.

The difference is that everything else is about a specific act. Can't say I know anyone with a foot fetish, but I doubt they take the foot out for a romantic dinner on their anniversary. And I imagine it's difficult to have a meaningful give-and-take LTR with a goat.
Being gay is about who you are and who you want to be "with" for the rest of your life, and sexual attraction is only one part of it. Just like being straight is not all about sex and lust or you'd dump your spouse if he was no longer able to perform.

so are you saying that if you are heterosexual it is alright to molest a child, there is perversion, this is where only one partner is willing and consenting, there are fetishes where an object causes you to be come sexually aroused and sexual orientation where a person chooses a consenting partner.. and these are the differences you asked about as for your mental state I dare not judge that, you have to as well as be better informed

The fact that there can be a loving relationship. Also people with foot fetishes can be in a loving relationship if they concentrate on their spouses feet :p
what's the difference between all you listed and having sex with the opposite gender (if you're not trying to have kids)?

OK first of all I can't believe you compared a foot fetish to child moloestation and I can't believe you compared homosexuality to a foot fetish!!! You realize that's the exact same as saying that heterosexuality is like child molestation right?? they are just different ends of the same spectrum!!

Very Good Question , Its kinda is but I think the only difference is you can really " fall in love " with someone of the same sex. ( I could be wrong though because I am not gay or bi )
