Will the locals squeal for federal aid for the situation they chose to put themselves in any louder than Katrina victims in New Orleans? Only a total idiot is unaware of Frisco's proximity to the San Andreas Fault.

I have no doubt that those Nellie's in 'Frisco will throw mega hissyfits just like they did when the Oakland quake hit in the early 90s and I equally have no doubt that the Feds will give the little whiners enough money to resume their chosen lifestyles, they do every time.

Nothing was known about the San Andreas Fault Line or anything else about fault lines when San Francisco was founded. Should all residents of cities that are in danger of natural disasters relocate? That would include the residents of our entire east coast that are in danger every hurricane season.
Hopefully, both San Francisco and the federal government have learned from the Katrina disaster.

When the Big One hits the west coast it will be pandemonium. Everyone knows it's an earthquake zone, but no one is totally expecting it either. It will be as big a fiasco as the New Orleans thing.

Perhaps you should do just a little research before you post your vile hatred for California. You might learn that San Francisco was hit with a horrendous earth quake in 1906, and survived another one in 1989. You see, us Californians can take care of ourselves. Were quite resilient and we have one of the leading economies in the world. You, on the other hand are just showing your hatred for part of America, which really makes me wonder just how much you love this country. Have a nice day.

They won't have to. It will sink into the sea, and if the Artic plateau ever cracks and sinks, sea levels will rise by 20 feet...so you won't have to worry about earthquakes, problems in New Orleans, and I'd find some place other than Florida to retire to.

Construction is very different from the "olden" days. think of how many people are devastated in third world countries because of that alone. It will never be.... nor will anything else ever come ...close to the heartache of Katrina.
