i need help finding the origin of a truman quote.?

"Carry the battle to them. Don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive. And don't ever apologize for anything."

i came across this quote by truman on a site and i can't find where or when he actually said it.
does anyone know?

He says it as an advice to Hubert Humphrey, in NY Times, on 20th of September, 1964.

There is a very good movie of President Truman came out a few years ago, he was played by the guy on CSI NY.
