Much of it depends on how much effort you're willing to put into cleaning and caring for the new piercing. Since you've already said you do have piercings, you know how to clean, twist, etc. for earlobe piercings. Your lobes will take approximately 6 weeks to heal fully, cleaning two to three times daily and turning the earring one full turn every time you clean. A cartilage piercing will take up to 12 weeks to heal, and you can expect it to take at LEAST that long for a rook piercing to heal.
No lies, the rook piercing needs to be done by a professional body piercer (check your local tattoo parlors) and it does hurt like heck! A well done cartilage piercing hurts no worse than a lobe piercing. It just takes longer to heal.

I would get it on the lower lobe. Just my personal thought. I plan to get a second piercing and that's the place that make the most sense to me. It's going to hurt either way. I'd go for the less painful route -is there a point for getting it higher than the lobe? I'm not sure where the rook is on ear lobe.

I would get one on the top part of the ear, not on the lobe which is further down. I have one up there, and I think it looks pretty cool. I also agree with the woman above me that has the link to the picture that shows different ideas as to wear to put one.

I have my rook done and I really like it. I also have my Daith done. I think it depends on what you want. If you want it to heal faster, I would go with the Daith. It was very fast and pretty muck painless, while the rook hurt to sleep on for some time. Good Luck!
