It's pure representation of a teenager's inside thoughts with successes and failures, with bitter memories turned happy just because he's at an age which permits it, with collegebeatings and all, parents trouble, self awareness. It's not a tough book to read at all. It's quite pleasant.
If you want to interpret it, you could give it a thousand shapes, depending on the mood you're in when reading it, on your age and other external or internal factors.
If you want interpretations, you can check all those "helpers" sites...like cliff's notes and which ever there are out there...but personally, I think you could give it your own interpretation. Just say what you have felt after you have read it.

HI!, gosh it has been along time since Ive read.....But i feel as with anything .....we all look at the same things differently ...for me it was a self full filling kind of thing ...I mean as in looking inside for answers...and even the questions .....so many ways to get specific ...but i don't think I can make mine understood..so I will stick with the above and keep it general.....I had a hard time with it!!....a very hard time!....enjoy your reading and studies ...and have a great life ...people are saying happy new year ..but i feel one year is not enough ...so as corny as it sounds i say HAPPY NEW LIFE!!!...stay safe..
PEACE

Well, here's my interpretation. A whiny boy keeps thinking he's grown up enough to do things while he's too immature to actually follow through and reverts to a childish stage. He contradicts himself left and right and finally ends up in a mental institution.
If you couldn't tell, I hated this book...
