The Browns DID NOT SPLIT. They were owned by Art Modell who promised to never move the team and then moved them to Baltimore and they became the Ravens. The City SUED to keep the name Browns because the relationship to Jim Brown. Then when they got a new team after like 3 years they used the name. It wasn't a SPLIT and I don't know WHAT that dude was smoking.
The Kansas City Chiefs were the Dallas Texans in the AFL before moving, although they moved before the merger.
The Tennessee Titans were the Tennessee Oilers right after moving from Houston and then changed the name
The Raiders went from Oakland to LA to Oakland
The St. Louis Rams were the L.A. Rams
The Arizona/Phoenix Cardinals were from Chicago I believe
The Indy Colts were Baltimore Colts
Can't think of which other ones have.

A long time ago, the St. Louis Cardinals used to be the Chicago Cardinals. This is the root of a long rivalry between these two teams. The Cardinals later moved to Arizona.
The Indiannapolis Colts used to be the Baltimore Colts. It will be intresting when the Colts play the Ravens this weekend.
The Baltimore Ravens used to be the Clevelands Browns. Later, Cleveland won an expansion franchise and chose to pay homage to the Browns of old. I always look foward to the Browns/Ravens game every year.
Let's see... The Tennessee Titans used to be the Houston Oilers and the Raiders have flipped flopped between LA and Oakland several times... Oh!! The Rams used to be in LA too.
I think that's it.

Try nfl.com. There are a lot of archive and historical articles there. But, a tidbit... did you know that during the war, there weren't enough pro players available, so the Eagles and Steelers didn't officially change cities, but combined as a "Pennsylvania team" to become the Steegles?
