I have been babysitting for a family since I was a freshman in high school. I am now a senior in college. The child I work with is autistic and is a teenager now. When I began working for the family, I made $10 an hour. I am still making $10 an hour. The family is very very very well off and I feel as if I am being ripped off. I drive home from college about 20 miles away just to babysit for this family once a week. I know I could easily make more doing the same thing closer to my school and not have to spend as nearly as much on gas. Should I stick with this family until I graduate or should I move on?

Also, I watched the family's dog while they were away on the agreement that they would pay me what they would pay a kennel. When they got back, they said their kennel is only $30 a day (for a large breed dog). I feel as if they don't care to keep me working for them anymore.

Just polietly ask for a raise. Say that you have been working for them for a long time and you would like a raise or you will need to find another part time job instead.

I think being with them for that long a couple bucks extra an hour would be good or at least a dollar raise, if they decline you then move on and do it closer to home.

If you feel uncomfortable maybe bring up that you think you are not being paid enough and make the previous arguement you just posted. If they decline a raise you should leave them. On friendly terms of course! :)

I had this same problem with one of my babysitting jobs when I was a freshman. I would personally not take the job anymore. It is not worth it from my view.
