I'm out of the technology loop. I bought a cheap MP3 player (a MuVo Wave I think) that I have to put a AAA battery in to use. Ever since i began converting my MP3 files to WMA format, my MP3 player has been using going through batteries in about 2 hours, when it used to last for weeks. I just read that people charge them on their computers. I have to take the USB piece off and stick it in my computer to put the songs on it; is that charging it?? Are there MP3 players that don't use alkaline batteries?

If yours uses alkaline batteries then when your plugging it in USB you are definitely not charging it.

You don't need a new one if your comfortable with the two hours of use. All I can truly suggest is that you decide yourself then if you do decide just be careful about what you decide. I-Pod is always well talked about but let me let you in on a little secret.

Any brand that doesn't say I-Pod and is reasonably priced and dealt is reasonable anyways. All you will see is that I-Pod has more available accessories due to its advertising.

I have a 4 GB sansa and I love it big time, it does video and mp3s for 8 hours on a charge and its rechargeable of course.

Sounds like a little much for you. If your not interested in the tech part as much as just having the portable music, go with a cheaper brand.

Many of the new models from creative, iriver, zune usually use lithium polymer or lithium ion rechargeable batteries that are not removable. The benefit is that it allows for a much sleaker and thinner MP3 player since they don't have to have removable cases and connections, they can be pretty much hardwired to the MP3 player. Becuase you have converted all you songs to WMA you can also purchase an ipod but will have to go through an extra step and convert them to MP3 or AAC for the ipod to use... Itunes allowes for WMA conversion on board.

No that doesnt charge it. The MP3 players you are thinking of have their own built in battery, if you aren't computer savy its probably a better idea to stick to the alkaline batteries.

For your mp3 player pluging it in wont charge it it has to have rechargable batteries. Charging is mostly for mp3 players like the ipod.
