I know how you feel mate. I'm sick to death of all the hype surrounding the premiership(especially by sky) and the England team. I've followed the game for over 35 years but my enthusiasm has been replaced by cynicism over the last year or so and going to games is almost a chore.

Debating whether or not to try watching at a lower level, or maybe start watching more Rugby League again (live - not on sky). This is likely to be my last year as a season ticket holder for some time.

Perhaps it is because your life has become more interesting or you're feeling more successful.

My experience was that I enjoyed sports for a time in my life. Then I got a job that was very interesting every day. I also started having a lot of success -- winning about 80% or 90% of the time in court as part of my work, just by applying my skills.

That met two of my needs -- something exciting, and the fun of winning.

When I watched sports after that, it was kind of a letdown. First of all, it wasn't as interesting as my every day life. On top of that, instead of winning 90% of the time like I did in my everyday world, my sports teams were winning only 50% or 60% of the time.

So I got less interested in sports and more interested in the world.

Maybe I'll be interested in sports again when my regular life is less interesting or I'm feeling less successful. Then I can enjoy vicarious fun and success through supporting my team.

Could it be that you love the game so much you cannot bare to see it turned into a sport like motor racing where it is purely a matter of waiting for the richest to win?

Could it be that players are commodities that behave like immature little boys and have no loyalty?

Incidentally, the word 'soccer' is actually a British word. It derives from asSOCiation football, it's just the Americans took it over because we didn't use it much.

You should move to the US and play with the Hispanics in the parks on the weekend...they have a big feast/party and massive tournaments just for fun every weekend in almost every public park on the west coast of the US. A good time is had by all.

Yeah well sometimes things change and people change!
Ignore your mates if it bores you then it bores you. It's not as if you can force yourself to enjoy something!!
