You need to correct the way you are taking care of the turtles. Softshell means the diet is wrong, and other things sound wrong based on your short description.

You don't tell us the species but I'm betting they are Red-ear sliders.Red-ears are a little trickier than some people claim.

For example, they need space- at least 10 gallons per inch of total turtle shell length- with three turtles about 1.5" long, you should run about 45 gallons of water.

They need warm water- heated to about 75-80F, usually with in-water heaters controlled by thermostats. The basking sites should be heated to about 90F- usually by light bulbs or sun lamps. UV-B lighting should be included as well.

They need clean water- usually filtered through a unit 2-3 times more than the same size fish tank needs. Even then, it needs a lot of water changes.

They need a varied diet to avoid dietary problems- a mix of good pellets and assorted live or frozen/thawed foods like small fish, shrimp, worms, bugs, etc.

Turtles can only stay in the water for 24 hours or less. Make sure you have some type of platform that they can sit on with enough room. Make sure you put a heat lamp over the tank at all times. If they are not warm enough, they will hibernate. The lamps are not that expensive from whatever pet store may be near you.
