1- right now the "best one" would be the iPod Video- but that's going to be passed up by the new iPod that is a multimedia device.

2- you can download music even with a dial-up connection, it'll just take more time.

3- Yes, if you buy movies from the apple ipod store, you have to pay about 3 bucks. Songs are 99c, but *hint hint*-- Limewire

4- Again, 99c. About 12 bucks for an album.

5- Depends on the iPod and how many Gbytes it can hold. But the largest holds I think 10,000 songs w/out vides, pics, etc.

6- the iPod has a battery that is charged by the computer when you plug it in.

You can read about iPods at Apples web site.

1> depends what your definition of best one is. I have a 30 GB Video iPod that should do it for most people. It costs 250 to 300 dollars.
2>Its not the speed of your computer, but the speed of your internet to download movies and music, you need something besides dial-up. If you have broadband, DSL, or cable, you'll be just fine.
3>You can download music or movies illegally on the internet, or you can pay for them, depends on where you look. Many sites offer music for as low as 1 dollar/ album, as for movies its probably as cheap as less than 5 dollars/movie if you look at the right places.
4>Music again, can be downloaded free illegally, or as cheap as $1/album on some sites, or 1 dollar per song from the itunes music store.
5>For instance, with my 30 GB ipod video, if you ONLY put songs on it, it would hold around 7,500. But of course, the more pictures, and videos you put on it the less it will hold. Because a typical 1 hour and 30 minute movie = about 500-600 MB on the iPod, so you can start taking chunks out of it pretty quickly.
6>iPods run off a lithium-ion battery on the inside, its not like other batteries, though. You can expect it to last for about a year, then you can either find a company to send in the ipod to replace the battery, or purchase a do it yourself kit. You can expect to spend around 40-50 dollars for the new battery+kit. If you are asking battery life: If you were to ONLY play songs on it, you can expect 13-14 hours. but if playing video the entire time, less than 3 is expected. for Picture viewing, look for perhaps 8-10 hours.
I hope this helps you, and if you have any more questions about iPods, please contact me at BigCardinalsFan@msn.com!

First off the battery life is great. you could get away with buying an Ipod video for as little as 239 at Costco. You can pay for an Itunes card at Walmart or any other big retailer and use it on Itunes to download music. You can also buy music with your credit card from Itunes. They are about 99 cents a song. movies Vary. If you get an 80 gb Ipod you could fit abgout 40000 songs on it. You can get videos from the Itunes music store or if you go to jodix.com you can download a program that converts your dvds into ipod ready files. Good luck!

OK Then, i have the 5th generation ipod, which is the newest one, so here are my answers:

the best one is 189 pounds gbp (english pounds)
It doesn't really matter how fast it is, as long as it is windows xp. or mac, obviously.
movies are only available to download in america, and they are about 10 dollars USD.
you can buy music from itunes for 79 pence GBP, however most people use file sharing networks such as limewire, bittorrent, or bearshare.
it depends on how much memory the ipod has. if it is 30gb, 7'500 songs, ad if 80gb, 20'000 songs, unless you really need that many, i think 30 gig is enough though.
batteries on ipods are actually quite good, if you turn the backlight brightness down and the backlight timing, i get about 10 hours.

i hope this sheds a little light on what you wanted.

thanks for reading!

1-80gb (holds like 50,000 songs or something) and its $350.00

2-It doesnt matter

3-10-20$ but their a waste of money unless you go on flights and have nothing to do. I don't reccomend buying an ipod just for the movies.

4-99 cents, all you have to do is get an apple id and sign in with your e-mail and whatever password you pick. (although I think its easier to get giftcards)

5-depends what gb amount you get, 80gb, 20 or 50,000 songs, 8gb, only 2,000 songs.

6- no batteries needed, you just plug your ipod into the USB jack and your ready to go.

-It would have been nice if you said why you wanted an ipod and how much your willing to spend on one. and isn't limewire illegal?
