Is it legal for an employer to say that if you drive a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy?
you will get .44 a mile. If you drive lets say a Honda like me, you will only get .40 a mile. I told my boss it was discrimination but he says he will only pay a higher rate if you drive a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy. I told Him that Ford owned Honda but it still did not matter.

Help!!

An employer can set any terms of employment that they wish. As long as it it not related to race, gender, or religion, they can set different rates for each employee. He does not even have to pay you mileage if he chooses not to!!

Your employer may feel that it is better for the country if you drive an "American" (big three) made vehicle. He is not telling you what to drive, he is saying that he will pay more if you drive a car he approves of.

If you are not happy with the situation there, you always have the choice to look for work elsewhere!!!

Ford does not own honda. I would kick you azz if you said that to me. Ford owns Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mazda (33.4%), Mercury and Volvo (cars only).

It sucks... but keep in mind... your Honda most likely gets much better gas mileage than those all do.
