Shaun Pollock made the most of his cricketing genetics to become one of the greatest all-rounders the world has ever seen. Off course he is the best bowler in the world right now. Check the ICC rankings for ODI bowlers. He is a phenomenal cricket player.

I supposed it depends on what you mean by right now. Do you mean now that Shane Warne has retired, i.e. AW (After Warne as it shall now be known)? Because if you do, Shaun Pollock is without doubt up there. He is a great bowler and a pretty decent batsman.

But I'd have to argue that since Shane Warne only retired a bare week or so ago (and as much as this pains me to say this being a Pom), Warne is without doubt the best bowler in the world right now.

And I suspect Shaun Pollock would agree.

I don't think he's even the best bowler in SA! Ntini is more dangerous these days. Pollock is still a very handy player to have to bowl into the wind and let Ntini/Nel/Steyn come downwind, but he struggles to reach 80mph these days so top batsmen can adjust for any movement. I think his bowling average in the last 18 months is over 30 ... Now that Warne has gone I don't think anyone can touch Muralitharan.

Shaun Pollock is a handy cricketer.....no doubt.....but he is not the best....Murlitharan will be the best....but among the fast bowlers....it is hard to say at the mo becos mcgrath is retired now....no one is worthwhile from India, England, Sri Lanka, NZ. WI...or even SA....the only exception now...is M.Asif from Pakistan and Stuart Clark from Aus....these two are the future of the Cricket.....Eng and India are the two teams who are ruining their new talent....they have excellent talent but they are wasting them......Broad, Onions, Plunkett and VRV Singh....RP singh...and Ishant Sharma they r all goood genuine fast bowlers ...but they got no place in the team becos the selectors from both the nations are stupid.....so i will say in the end....Asif and Clark are the best new fast bowlers....Pollock is ....or i wud say was the best bowler...

Pollock is certaintly bowling well, but I dont think he is the best bowler in the world at the moment. I think that honour would be shared by Murali and also by Stuart Clark, who has made a huge imapct since his Test debut in March.

Most people at this moment in time would say that Warne is the best bowler in the world right now. But Ricky Ponting (probably best batsman in world) reckons Muralitharan is the best bowler in the world.

No, he used to be the best but has just lost a bit due to his age..I think these days the 'best' are those who not only swing the ball but also ball at a fast pace, brett lee as an example. but no doubt pollock WAS one of the best and is still great but not the best..

Oh I just love to watch that guy. He is good, but I don't think he is the best. I've heard that he is nothing compared to how good Graeme Pollock was

Pollock is right up there in the top three but I think now McGrath and Warne have retired, Brett Lee will now come to the fore.
