Well, you see back in the 1400 and 1500's, there were a lot of 2 things in america. There was a lot of Indians, and there was a lot of Whites coming from other countries. Over time between wars, and some cultures, They started to intermarry. Some of this was caused by abandoment too, but mostly just because of the closeness of these 2 cultures.

Well of course they had to have intermarry over the generations
there is no other way to have the blood of a certain group if you did not intermingle...have kids together. This is very true for Canadian whites. When the merchants..mostly whites visited
they stayed and settled with the first nations people...indians.

Intermarry? Maybe. More likely there was cross fertilization without the happily every after, if you know what i am saying. I mean, humans don't seem to do very well with cross cultural relationships, but there does seem to be an attraction.

I don't know of many whites who have indian blood (native or foreign Indians) - I wonder if it is more common where you live or if you just know the right questions to ask to learn this sort of thing.

Peace!

The earliest would have been white settlers arriving to America from England, Ireland, Scotland, etc... all those white guys coming over here where there were no women... and all those attractive young Indian girls... I'd have to say that's how it began. Eventually it probably went the other direction too... with daughters born to settlers finding interest in Indian guys.

I'm part Irish and part Cherokee (on my mother's side) because the Irish settled in TN where there was a large batch of Cherokee at the time my forefathers arrived. On the other side, I'm part French and part Sioux because apparently those settlers landed or gravitated to where that particular tribe was located.

Edit - Geez... chill out, people! She didn't say she had a problem with it!

/I don't see why or where this would be an issue, but alot of caucasians and african americas have native american blood because the native americans where orginal inhabitants of North America. Therefore through the many of issues caused by the settling of the land with colonies or when some where placed in slavery the bloodlines where mixed.

-I wonder why is it that when a question of this nature arises, some people go into their own tyraids about race. Why use this as an opportunity to make a derrogitory comment about black people?!? Then again, one does not speak for all in any race.

A lot of white people have Indian blood because when the English came over, they had relationships with Indians. Some were forced, but sometimes people really fell in love and had children. But also, alot of Indians were raped and had children.

In America's past, a lot of things have occured. The reason that many White American's have Indian blood, is probably due to the fact that either the women of the European communities were raped or because some of the men settlers from teh European communities raped Indian women. I'm 1/8 Cherokee, but that's from a marriage between my great, great grandmother and my great, great grandfather. My great great grandmother was full-blooded Cherokee.

I assume you mean Native Amercan blood. Seems to be any population living in the same area would mix blood. I guess I don't understand how this question is supposed to be anything but very simple.
I mean, a lot of "white people" have slaves in their bloodline....for reasons that are very obvious.
ANd for the guy who basically called the questioner a racist for asking. That was even far more stupid than the question.
