Going on spontaneous short 3 day trip from Orlando,FL to Georgia or South Carolina. Any good recommendations for places to go and stay? One child, 11 years old, two adults. Like cold snow weather but not sure if there is any in SC at the moment. Thanks!

In Atlanta, there is Olympic Park, CocaCola, CNN center, MLK memorial. Stone Mountain, the new aquarium, the Atlanta Zoo (has a new baby panda) and the Botanical Garden. If there's anything playing at the Fox Theater you should make an effort to go there. ( Go early to hear the Mighty Mo organ.) Shop at Buckhead.

I don't believe anywhere in SC mountains has snow right now. I live in the NC foothills, and it was 70 degrees here today!

You might go to Clayton, GA. It's in a mountainous area. Lots of cool little shops, and the Cabbage Patch Kid nursery is nearby (in Cleveland, I think.) Your 11 year old might enjoy seeing the dolls being born. Then eat a fabulous supper at The Dillard House.

Also there is Helen, GA. It is a touristy alpine village, lots of shops and fun things. Very cute place, with a very good German restaurant. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name!

NC, SC and GA all meet in that little corner. You can go touring and see Highlands, NC and Bridal Veil Falls. Highlands is becoming a shopping place for the artsy and eclectic.

You never know, it might get cold and snow while you're there!

Underground is not the place to take children. It's just t-shirt shops and bars anyway. There's the aquarium, Stone Mountain Park, Thrasher Hockey games or for cheaper hockey tickets, the Gwinnett Gladiators. Tour CNN and World of Coca-Cola.

10% South on Roswell Rd. is an exceedingly sturdy resturant and attempt their Faithfull Hound purple wine, and a sturdy time on New Years could be between the inns in downtown Atlanta. Benhanas is often exciting for a set of human beings as properly as Inchibonds.
