Does it have a water supply? If yes, about all ice makers have a supply valve outside of the freezer compartment. See where the water line goes into the freezer. It should go to the valve first. It's a relatively simple procedure to replace the valve. I've done mine twice. ( lousy water) You won't need an engineering degree to do it. Just a few hand tools and a touch of mechanical capability. About anybody the can replace a radiator hose should be able to do it. If and when all else fails......call Sears.

Nothing has more problems than ice makers. Since it is just a year old, I'd guess that the water inlet where it comes into the freezer is frozen. Either take everything out, shut off the freezer and allow it to thaw, or, try using a hair dryer in the back where the water comes in. The frozen plug is usually pretty small so it doesn't take much to unthaw it. Secondly, you may want to trace your water line from the ice maker. The kits are often saddle valves and plastic line, and someone may have turned it off or the line has become kinked. Failing that, a service call may be in order, although these units are not beyond the ability of an average person to replace. Good Luck.

Same problem about 3 wks ago. Called Sears. Over a yr old, warrenty expir. Repairman took apart the icemaking section and a small "gizmo" was malfunctioning. removed and replaced. About $235.(total)
He said this replaced part is a comon call for him. He really pushed buying extended warranty. (not)

Did it work before? It might not be plumbed for water so it can't produce ice. If it did work before, try turning it off and waiting a few minutes and turning it back on and wait. If it doesn't come on and it has been plumbed you need to call a repairman.
