I would actually see his or her race as a plus, and for more than one reason. For one, we are long overdue for recognizing the equality of ability and potential in all races, and especially in the black arena. Related to that, when we have a black candidate who has risen above the level that society has attempted to place him or her in, we are likely to have a more exceptional performer than we would have found otherwise.
if this appears to be a form of reverse discrimination or prejudice, so be it. But I think it's just a reality of the times and precisely so because of our history of prejudicial treatment of this and other minorities.

Now, there's a question you might not get a honestly honest answer on.

I'm not really sure of any reason why I wouldnt vote for a black president. I'd be nervous that some as*holes might try to kill him, or that other members of the world community might have some crazed outlandish objections, but I guess overall, why not, right?

As long as he or she doesnt take office simply riding on the minority ticket in, and is voted in purely on experience, candor, commitment, and leadership.

David Palmer for president, ya'll. J/K

Of course I would,as long as he had the same political values that I have, you betcha.People should see beyond color and look at what is inside. However,at the risk of sounding sexist,I would not vote for a woman.I am an old school woman and feel that men should always have the leadership, whether at home, work or running the country.Look at what Nancy Pelosi did,she had all of her grandchildren running around picking them up etc..,there is a time and place for everything and if you are at work, your kids should not be there.

Yes, i would. And for socailbutterfly2006 it doesnt matter who found America first. The white man was the 2nd find america not the first and African Americans played a huge if not bigger in the devolpment of the US. So you can stop acting like the white man did everything, when actually the black man did.

no, because I feel that there would be resistance in parts of America and I would not want to cripple my party in such an important election, assuming I guess, that I am voting in the primary, I don't think that we will have an opportunity this time around to vote for an "African-American"

If i were American I'd vote for Colin Powel in a heartbeat!!!

He would be a great president. I'm not american and hes not running.

I used to have no respect for c. rice but recently i've found her actually showing more independence

A good president is one chosen on merit.

I would vote for whom I considered to be the best choice -- whether that person was African-American, female, Hispanic, purple with pink polka-dots or whatever the case may be.

Yes but I would not vote for him just because he is black. The presidency is to important of a job. Not any man or woman would do. Not only do we need a qualified individual, they need to be a uniter as well.

There isn't a contender out there yet. If an African-American comes to campaign for the White House, he or she will be an accomplished military leader most likely....and a republican.
