You won't go around in life hating everyone who isn't just like you and you might actually do some good, rather than screwing people!

You're not interested in a serious answer. You just want to be an irritant. So I will put something to irritate you back: THE FOUNDING FATHERS WERE LIBERALS.

Do you doubt this? A conservative resists the new and different, and clings to the established, the tried and true. Well, in 1776, the tried and true was Monarchy. There was no example of a constitutional democracy anywhere in the world. If the Founders were conservatvie, they would have created a monarchy here. But they didn't. They created something new and different. They also gave us something else new and different: Secular government, where religion is left up to the individual and the state doesn't take a position.

I don't care what you believe. That is the difference with a Democrat and a Republican.
Republicans are control freaks under the disguise of religion.
They use religion to forment wars and killing and taking other people's land and stuff.
Tolerance has been exchanged for family values. Is it family values to rip a man away from his wife and kids and send him to a foreign country to keep two religious fanitics from killing each other. By the way they kill Christians over there and a bible is forbidden. That is religious values?
To rob from the poor and give to the rich is family values?
They have to be against something so they pray on the weakest part of society. Homosexuals who everyone is against and they are disgusting and should be killed but does that make what they do ok? Does that make war okay?
Then abortions, which I consider murder and wish all women were sterilized who have abortions. or worst.
But , is it better to let them grow up to 17 1/2 or 18. Barely grown and send them to their death for no good reason?
Young women who get abortions don't vote so they are safe to be against. Most people are against abortions.
That doesn't make Republicans right or honest or even moral.
More abortions were preformed during this administration than any previous administration. They had total control, did they stop it? No, they were not required to stop it. Just say they were against it. Well, guess what we all are.
But, that doesn't make kick backs to the oil companys okay.

Liberals believe in progress. The status quo is good, but our democracy is a fixer-upper. I think that is the essential characteristic of liberal thought -- a belief in the necessity of and potential for progress.

So, I believe liberals are problem solvers, and they see problems worth solving and commit ideologically to them.

Along with this belief in progress comes the idea that man must hope for the better. And, as he hopes for the better, he must strive to better himself and raise everyone else in the process.

I think the primary aspect of conservative thought that makes liberals uneasy is the idea of stasis. Everything is good. We are the best. We are the most powerful. We need to keep it that way, and let's not screw with the works.

But, I don't think the idea of progress precludes celebrating what is right and good -- spiking the football a little bit, doing a little Ocho Cinco dance.

There is a lot of polarizing thought on both sides that promotes the myth that basic common sense on one issue is the exclusive domain of one Party.

For example, Democrats believe that they care about the less fortunate, and Republicans do not. Republicans believe they are strong on defense, and Democrats are not. There's fiscal responsibility, and many other issues where there is probably more similarity than disagreement.

But, in reality, most of these ideas are shared by both sides as they represent basic good sense. And the belief that people should work hard, stay out of trouble, and participate in the society -- that idea is common to both parties, as is the idea of projecting strength in national defense.

So, I think it boils down to a belief in human potential, and a striving to better the status quo.

Now, personally, as a leftist, I take a rather cynical view of hte other side. I do believe that the Republican Party, and the Democratic Party, are essentially in business with the same objective. And business is the objective.

This country can be cleanly described as a mechanism of wealth generation for the wealthy. All other aspects of the society can be made to conform quite easily to this model.

I believe that if one is wealthy, Republican affiliation is compulsory unless one is also profoundly spiritual and humane, just on practical grounds.

Everyone else who is Republican, I believe, has made an error in judgment based on limited information, or has hitched his or her wagon to a noisy epiphenomenon of the Party that is of no real consequence -- for example, that the culture is anti-Christian, pro-gay, and anti-marriage. None of the wealthy opnion leaders of the Party give a **** about these issues. It's background noise.

Now, that brings me to the notion of progress. We have an economy that is grossly out of whack in this country. I did a study recently using Bureau of Labor Statistics data. The data show that,

Since 1955:

+ Output per hour is up more than 260%.
+ Hours worked is up 90%. This is hard to believe, begs further investigation.
+ Output per hour multiplied by hours worked, the total output nut, is up 580%.
+ Hourly compensation is up 170%.
+ Labor’s share of productive output has fallen 4%. From what initial % is unknown.
+ Non-Labor Share of productive output (re: Profits) is up 4,042%. From what initial % is unknown.

Now, if that list of bullet points looks acceptable to you, you are probably already wealthy (good for you), and you should be a Republican.

If that list of bullet points disturbs you, let's get to work. You should be a liberal.

There is also a spiritual reason, for me. When I read the Gospel, I believe I am reading about the words and deeds of a Man who was also God. Comparing His teachings to the political parties, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Christian discipleship compels one to gravitate toward leftist thinking -- BUT very strongly pro-life.

So, as someone who aspires to emulate Christ, I personally believe I am naturally led to thinking that is labeled "liberal" in political terms, with the pro-life exception.

-----------------------

Dog, why don't you reply via the mail feature and I will convince you that if you have a heart and a soul, you should be a pro-life liberal.

I believe your exact quote from a previous post was:
"P.S. if any libs wanna answer me don't bother I don't pay attention to libs. To me they are the untouchable lower castes that I wouldn't bother to spit on, liberalism is a mental disorder"

so please stop trying to act like you care or that you are a serious person in the least, or that you're even a rational person at all... because clearly, to even conservatives you aren't...

We don`t recruit others it comes from the heart all we can do is throw as much evidence as we can out there while you attack it to protect the father figure from guilt that will expose weakness in your leader.

What is your criteria for a "good" answer? What would you consider to be a good answer? Do you have any good answers in mind? Can YOU answer your own question?

It's not up to anyone other than yourself to decide your views.

I'm comfortable with mine and that's all that matters.
