DS. Just go into your local GameStop and take a look. If it's like mine, there will be about 6 used PSP's for sale and 0 DS's. After people have a PSP for a couple months they get rid of it. PSP tries to do way to much, and it doesn't do anything great.
I sold mine and got a DS Lite. It's to big to be a good mp3 player, getting movies onto it is a time consuming hassle. The games aren't all thay great and the little analog nub kills your hands after about 10 minutes. UMD is a horrible format - with some games you'll spend more time loading the game than playing it. And the battery runs down fairly quickly.
Browsing the internet with it is pretty much a waste of time.
If you want something that does a whole lot of things, just not very well, get the PSP.
If you want something that will only play games, but does it well, get a DS

Are you wanting something that can do lots of things or do you want something that only does video games? Because the DS is a good choice for the latter; the games are rather interactive. The PSP is basically a multimedia console; it can play music and videos and other things as well I'm sure (I don't have one personally, I have a DS) the DS is also cheaper than the PSP :)

i would say ds definetly. they are cheaper and the games for them are alot cheaper than the games for a psp. the games for a psp are like 40 dollars and the games for a ds are only 19 or 20 dollars. the psps run out of battery power very fast and you will have to keep charging them (every hour long yuo play it) and a ds you would have to only charge it for 5 hours and then you get 10 hours of playing time before you have to charge it again. trust me i had both a psp first but it broke then i got a ds and it didnt brake i had it since last year.

my 18 year old brother has a psp and loves ir and my 8 year old son has a ds. I think the ds is aimed at the younger end of the market, but that said it's really good fun (my husband and I fought over it non stop when he first had it!!). So i suppose what I'm saying is it all depends how childish you want to be!!

You get what you pay for.
The sony PSP lets you have the world's best handheld graphics and a multi-media center that shall fit in the palm of your hand.
You can: Surf the web, play music, take picture (soon to be camera attachment with 4+ mega pixels - that is really good!) watch videos on it and go on msn. Also, it interacts with the PS3 as an extra controller, rear view mirror and you can upload ps one and PS2 games on to it.

So... I hope you like this advice and enjoy your future gaming on the famous PSP!

my kids both have a ds and i have a psp for myself and have to say the psp is absolutly awsome bit of kit.
films, music videos ,mp3 and the use of the internet on it which is really cool. i use my psp for browsing and its amazing how far away it can pick up wireless lan networks. the games are far better too and the consol seems better built too.
plus with the new firmware u can use a psp as a modem on the ps3 so can have wirless on ur ps3.

I have a DS and have been quite disappointed... it is fun i just expected it to be abit better. From what some of my friends have said about their psp's i would suggest a psp.

The DS is much cheaper and will fit into your pocket. It is not designed to play videos. I am far from being a child and I like the DS "Clubhouse Games". I wish more games of that type would come out rather than the action "Super Mario" games.
