add more RAM to it.

If you're talking about just the processor... there are ways to overclock processors, but it will invalidate your warranty, and if you don't know what I'm talking about, you really shouldn't do it. I know about overclocking, quite a bit, but I still haven't done it on my system. It's not worth the risk, IMO.

If you're talking about improving the performance of your over all system... Usually a RAM memory upgrade is the #1 thing you can do to improve system performance. Most pre-built systems you buy these days simply don't come with enough memory.

If you want to improve your gaming performance, you may want to upgrade to a better video card.

Otherwise, make certain your system is clean of spyware, using a couple free tools that are out there (spybot search and destroy, Adaware are good ones). And make certain that all the drivers for your various hardware components are up to date. Newer drivers can boost performance.
