but people always want to critcise something. sometimes i feel that people define themself by what they DON'T like, rather than what they do.
as for grammar, i abide by mark twain's assertion that the written word should resemble the spoken word, and not the other way 'round.
as for you british, i will admit sometimes your accent is too thick for us.

The proper way gestures gets lost and broken down by environment and dialect. Some people do now want to change the sound and accept new words or shorten versions of the words and we diction try to correct or check one that makes the new sound. If all and sundry united states and or its people play a more suitable fashionable function on the international level, they have a tendency to be open to criticism. In us of a there appears a spotlight about education the young ones that they are the superb in the international. regrettably ( and that i recognize it truly is not any longer anybody), this parrocial body of concepts comes for the period of as no longer being attracted to different international locations, customs and traditions and for this reason a useless ringer for the "loud and ignorant ( Why do not they communicate English?) " photo is oftentimes the single which maximum persons affiliate with the voters of the USA of a. I also imagine that it would not help that some television classes teach the very worst aspects of yankee society and evidently those being exaggerated for dramatic impression, a lot of people trust it is how each and each of the anybody is. i in my opinion met many pleasant and interesting people even as vacationing the USA of a.

Pay attention in English class. The reason for languages (spoken and written) is for people to communicate with one another. The more effectively the language is used, the more effective the communication between them. If you speak however you choose to speak, then you are only speaking to communicate with yourself. You are being corrected concerning your grammar in an effort to instruct you how to communicate effectively with others.

Edit: The English you so snidely dismiss is the English of the common people, which you and people like you have chosen to butcher throughout the years. The language you speak and write isn't, it's a variation of English, one of many, and might rightfully be referred to as pidgin English.

You show yourself to be the embodiment of what people of other countries term "the Ugly American", selfishly thinking that you are not the one who should make the effort but that others should be required to make it for you. Or like many immigrants to this country who feel others should have to learn their language in order to speak to them, rather than them learning the language of the others.

Who cares if some teachers have decided to forgo using proper English in favour of speaking as they choose? That argument doesn't hold because it doesn't make their actions correct simply due to the fact that they are teachers. If teachers molest kids, and this has been known to happen, are you then going to argue that molesting children is thereby correct conduct?

If everyone is allowed to speak in the manner they please, then your teachers can fail you for not doing an assignment properly on a whim. They can state that they didn't mean what you thought that they meant, and it was your fault for not understanding them. Or your boss can fire you for not doing a task given you, you having done the wrong one because what he said wasn't what he meant. Communication decays when the rules of grammar governing a language are up to anyone's interpretation of them. And society decays with it.

I'm a stickler for grammar. It's just the way I was raised. I feel that, even though you may be very smart, poor grammar (or ebonics) makes you sound uneducated or that you are too lazy to take the time to speak properly. It's all in how you present yourself to others.

People with the best education tend to use grammar the most accurately, so it's an ego boost to them to assume that they have a greater intelligence than people who learnt english to a lower standard.

Some people criticize because if they didn't they would never have anything to say. Often best to just ignore them. I feel the same way about the Grammar Nazis on here you want to be mean to people because of a typo or some other silly thing. I was taught if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Peace!

Well, it's referred to as "Correct"English for a reason; it's the correct way to speak...
To avoid learning it simply implies that you are too lazy or ill-educated to learn the rules.
Therefore, I wonder about what OTHER aspects of your life are you too lazy or ill-educated to be properly versed in, including the correct function and performance of your job....I

Are you criticizing Americans and other people?

Remember these people are the few that, when confronted with their own ignorance, will defend themselves by attacking your flank. Rather than find a solution, they hide their ignorance by acting arrogant.
