I can't remember the name of the cartoon, but if I remember correctly it aired in the early to mid 90's......the cartoon was based on a human character that fought with a bunch of robots....all I remember is there were robots and the human character looked something similar to speed racer (he wore a helmet)..I really don't know how to explain it any better.

Could it have been Mighty Orbots?

The human is a blond-haired, blue-eyed young man named Rob Simmons, a.k.a. The Orbots' Commander.

The Orbots are 3 male and 3 female, and the 3 males and the 2 larger females formed a huge robot named Mighty Orbots:

Male:
Tor: Red; huge robot, superstrong. Became the torso of Mighty Orbots (with a seperate head for the larger robot.).
Bort: Blue, skinny robot. Was insecure and undecive. He could change into other machines. He became the right leg of Mighty Orbots.
Crunch: Purple, fat robot. Not too bright, but had a HUGE appitite. He could change whatever he ate into energy and transfer that energy to the others. He was the left leg of Mighty Orbots.

Female:
Bo: Orange, pretty robot. Had the power to use and control the elements, and a little of the weather. The jokester of the group. If she was a Disney heroine, she'd be Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Norte Damne. She was the left arm of Mighty Orbots.
Boo: Yellow, also pretty robot. Had the power of illusion and teleportation. Shy and sweet. If she was a Disney heroine, she'd be Snow White. She was the right arm of Mighty Orbots. Together, Bo and Boo provide much of the firepower for the Orbots.
Oh-No: Small robot that looks like a 5-year old little girl. She was the prototype Orbot and Rob's assistant. She was the only one that was with him constantly (the others had recharge chambers all over the world.) She gets her name because she yells, "Oh, no!" a lot. She's a mother hen, and even nags Rob. Oh-No is the "key" to Mighty Orbots, unlocking the power to charge up the giant when the Orbots are combined. She also helps Rob pilot Mighty Orbots.

Other characters included Rondu, who was the Commander of the Galactic Patrol, and the only person outside of the Orbots' team that knew that Rob and the Orbots' Commander were the same person; Dia, Rondu's daughter, who was in love with the Orbots' Commander, but would barely give Rob the time of day. (The "Superman--Lois Lane--Clark Kent" love triangle.)

The main villian was Umbra, a bio-computer that ruled the Shadowstar (a planet so huge, its sun was on the INSIDE). The organization on the show was called, Shadow, and it was Shadow Agents that the Orbots went up against week-after-week.

It was in the '80's, though. But your discription sounds like Mighty Orbots.

It has some pictures and discriptions of the characters. I hope this is the cartoon.
