Well--the prison system is supposed to be about rehabilation--but lets face it--it is not--People wonder why people that have gone to prison go back to prison again. Perhaps one of the main reasons is that the criminal system does all it possibly can to make sure that someone that has commited a crime is never left alone to try to get his/her life back together. The first thing they do is take away any income you have--like social security and any pensions you may have. Then they make sure they fine you a tremendous amount that can never be paid by the averae person. Then they add to the fine a restitution figure. So now you are in dept for the rest of your life. They also add interest to any unpaid amount just to make sure that you can never pay it off.
so now you try to get a job, and anywhere you go does not hire you because you have a criminal record.I could go on and on but I think that there is enough here to tell you about the rehabilation that the Government tries to tell you is happening. So lets face it--what is one supposed to do to support his family and himself.??One would get so desperate that he will commit some criminal act , which is probably what the criiminal system is looking for.
Anyone wanting to know more about this great system please contact me and I will be happy to discuss whatever you want to discuss

I guess you could call it college, but I think it's all about money, and now that private ran prisons are being incorporated it's even more about money! The government gives so much for each prisoner, the more prisoners, the more money, the more money the more need for more prisoners! It would be cheaper to put all the criminals up in hotels, feed them, dress them, treat them and rehabilitate them, and educate them. I think It would be cheaper than putting them in prisons! Maybe treating them like humane beings would at least make nicer criminals out of them! Maybe they could grow up to be the next generation of politicians, lawyers, and judges, ect...at least they might have a little empathy and more common sense than the ones running the country now! You know the ones that went to college, to become legal criminals!

It's a college for criminals! The older (and supposedly wiser) cons have ample time (it's not like they are WORKING!) to teach the younger (and stupid) criminals how to "beat the system".

Want a working prison system? 23/7 in the cell (1 hour sh**, shower and shave).

The only exception to the above would be chain gang duty. Just think about a road cleared of trash and roadkill! 15 men (or women) on a chain (no mixing, men on the men's chain ... women on the women's chain, separated) 2 Corrections officers with street sweepers (shotguns with 10 round mags ... a total of 20 rounds for 15 felons on a chain!) ... you run, you DIE!

Medical care: At the level of that available to a family of 4 surviving at the minimum wage (ER, only those elective procedures available to the poorest Americans, etc.)

Basically, make the prisons more PENAL! Maybe we wouldn't have second offenders that way!

The prison systems are basically turning criminals, or people who walk on the Wild Side into primate animals.

If they got life or not-Education is a good thing. Most prisons are segmented by Race, Gangs or both. They just get worse. So if some are reading a BOOK! Man, I say "Que Sarah Sarah"!

I understand there is only a 2 to 4% recovery from ex-cons.

No.Attempts at rehabilitation are made through probation, home confinement, halfway houses and the like.By the time you get the "big bus ride" to the penitentiary,It's more about keeping you away from society so you can't harm anyone else.

I think that it varies from one institution to another. It's
Hard to really understand without having been there, which I
haven't. However I believe that it should be, and could be set
up better than the way it is presently.
