Emphyzema is a lung disease where the alveoli (The little grape-like clusters in your lungs that hold air) have lost their elasticity due to abuse from smoke, (cigarettes, factory jobs, polluted air from automobiles, burning leaves, anything that pollutes our atmosphere.) Some people are more susceptible to it than others.
Most wind up on oxygen, walkers, wheel chairs, etc. due to loss of strength in their body from not being able to breathe properly.

EMPHYSIMA. is a lung disorder, it is not a disease because it is not passed from one person to another. It can develop from asthma and asbestosis and such like. It is not a very nice illness as the chances recovering from it are zero. The condition can be caused or made worse by smoking.
