I have to do an oral presentation on a novel "The Pianist" by following the two tasks.

1. The conflict in the novel is identified
2. Students says what the conflict was

But what is the difference between the the two tasks? It looks like the same task to me.

It looks to me as if your first job is to show where in the novel the conflict is first identified. What happens to make you blink and say "Yep, there's the conflict?" That is always a pivotal moment in the plot, so it should be easy to identify.

The second part of this presentation you've give us is to explain the conflict in your own words. Use the book to give context, ie tell your listeners who the characters involved are, and if possible, what the resolution of the conflict is. It sounds like your instructor just wants to see that you understand conflict and how to identify and explain it clearly. Good luck! :)
