Good for you - mathematics is almost as important as physics then as advanced physics always means advanced mathemathics, although you'd need to get good grades across the board.
For a degree you'd need to think about an MSc or a BSc followed by a PhD. To become a scientist you've got to contribute something towards scientific theory - that would form the basis of your thesis, the huge project you'd do before leaving University.

Go for it! I'm doing a degree in physics at the moment and really enjoying it.
In school I studied Maths, physics and advanced computing.
Computing plays a large part if a physics degree.
Good luck.

Eventually you'll probably want to pick just one of those areas to specialize in, but you can wait until you get to grad school to decide. In the meantime, take a lot of physics and math in high school. In college, major in physics with minors or majors in math and astronomy as well. Apply to physics grad schools, where it takes an average of 6.5 years to get a physics Ph.D., which you will need to do research of your own. Good luck!

Know what your talking about. Know what your doing. Not only that it is good to have a degree in the science field. Most of all and most importantly if your trying to prove something, have actual, visual, physical proof to what your trying to prove.

Major in physics in college. The science department at your high school should be able to point you in the right direction.

You also need to narrow your field of study. Pick an area of physics to specialize in.
