yes there is something you can do.

1.. Talk to your neighbours and see if anything comes of it. Talk don't shout or go ordering them about, be nice.

2. If that doesn't work contact your local council, enviromental Health team, they can ask them to quite down or whatever, if it continues they put in monitoring equiptment, in your home, to record the disturbance caused. If the noice shows to too much they will take them to court and/or confiscate any stereo/tv used to make the noise.

If this still continues they can be evicted from their property, especially if the property is not their own as it is then easier to get them out!

Good Luck

If they are talking normally ...then I wouldn't think this would constitute a nuisance. It sounds like you have a real problem with the insulation between your houses. Why don't you get in touch with the local council building regulations department and ask their advice. If you rent the property then get in touch with your landlord and get him to sort it out. As to the smoke etc from BBQ's then you should talk NICELY to your neighbours and explain the problem. If it continues then you should get in touch with the council. They will write to you with a log sheet to keep a record of the nuisance...and also write to the offending neighbour. If it is a continual nuisance then they will do something about it.Good Luck

My aged mother is pestered by neighbours children riding quad bikes in a small field behind her house. She complained to the parents and was told to F**K off and move away if she does not like it. I am abroad at the moment and will address the situation on my return. In the meantime I have contacted the local police, who dont appear to be overly interested.

Try Googling. er sorry. Yahooing the terms "Noise Ordinance" and the name of your city. Most communities have a set of criteria for noise. Usually it something like noise before 7 AM and after 10 PM - just an example. In most places City functions and schools are exempt from noise ordinances

Have a chat with your local Environment Health department at your council. They should be able to advise you on the certain noise and the levels.

This would vary with your localities. Call your local town hall or county offices or even check with the local police or sheriffs departments to find out your local rules on this issues.
