Computers first appeared to help with the trajectory of projectiles. Doing the trigonometric equations took too long, but when computers first appeared , Mark I in 1930s, doing trajectory work advanced. Instead of taking a few minutes to calculate by hand and looking at tables for sines and cosines, a computer could do the calculation from the numbers entered into it.

Before Poland was invaded by Germany to start World War II, they had started to work on a computer to break the engima codes. Before they surrendered, they gave that computer to the British to use. This gave the British a great start in decoding German's codes at the start of the world. It would take a few days to break one message from German by hand, but with a computer, it took only a half of a day.

Computers were made to make the complex world of mathematics and science easier. The computer grew into something nobody could have predicted in its infancy.
