on cylinder side 2 4 6 8, on the valves there is one loose, its whats on top of the spring and pushrod. would It be alright to drive it 4 or 5 miles to town, being easy on it? 75 chevy truck 350

I just heard now, that If I drive It I could potentially crack the piston and then I'm done.

tighten it up,loosen it while its running till it clicks then slowly tighten it down till it stops clicking then turn it 1 more full turn,you'll have to idle it up because it'll want to stall but that's OK the lifter just needs time to pump back up,good luck

You could do more damage to the engine and that would make matters much worse. Can family or friends give you a ride? Have it towed into town to get repaired. Engine problems are the worst !!! Sorry :O(

I'm sure it possible, but if it's only that short of distance, I would find another way to get it to point B.

It's your gamble, remember an engine that size is doing alot of work regardless of RPM.

Ok I think I got your question right. You got a tapping I have pushed push rods threw the rocker arms before and still drove them i think your ok to drive it

YES because even if the parts get worse it will not really matter because your mechanic is going to replace them any way. it will not likely cause any damage to parts that do not currently have damage either. so save yourself the big towing bill and drive it.
