I Babysit On A Regular Basis (2-3 Times A Week) ... And I Get About $15.00 Per Hour To Watch An 8 Year Old, 5 Year Old, And A 2 Year Old...

A Few Years Ago, When I Lived In Canada - I Got Paied $35.00 An Hour To Watch A 6 Year Old, And A 1 Year Old...

(BTW - Thats Not What I Charge! That's How Much They Wanted To Pay Me!)

Most Of My Firends That Work At Stores & Stuff Get About, $5.00 - $7.00 An Hour...

Am I Being "Over-Payed"??

Because, Every Time I Got To Babysit For Someone New - They Say "How Much Do You Charge An Hour?"
And, I Just Say "It's Up To You! It Doesnt Matter!")
Should I Not Say That? Will They Take Advantage Of Me??

What Do You Guys Generally Get Paid To Babysit? (Per Hour)

I Babysit Every Weekend - And, 1 Or 2 Times A Week... (And, For Each Day Is Usually Between 5:00PM - 12:30AM) So, Thats's About 7-8 Hrs Each Time... Which Is Like, $120 A Night...

I've Been Babysitting Regularily For The Past 5 1/2 Years... (I'm 16 Now)

What SHOULD I Be Getting Paid??

ZAKIA - NO, I DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR THEM (COOK, CLEAN, HELP WITH HOMEWORK...) THE PARENTS FEED THEM BEFORE THEY GO OUT - BUT, I DO GET THEM SNACKS & STUFF IF THEY GET HUNGRY.

ALL I HAVE TO DO IS PUT THE LITTLE ONE TO BED (2 YRS OLD) AT 8:30 ... AND JUST WATCH MOVIES & PLAY GAMES FOR 8 HOURS!!! IT'S THE BEST JOB EVER!!! =D

I'm glad that you have this great job. But dont tell the parents (if you dont want to) to pay you less. I dont know where else you could get a better job . For the kids I babysit (three of them!),I give them baths, lunch and/or dinner, play with them, put them to bed, discipline them, and I get paid an three dollars an hour. I am fourteen and have 3 years experience,I am responsible and love those kids. They are by no means poor, and use me to get every pennys worth, out of me. So yeah you get great pay,but you seem to have a great family to babysit for,and thats priceless.
Enjoy babysitting! I really hope I helped. : )

I have said It doesn't matter when it comes to price ,but only when it was a close friend or family member. It's all about self-worth. You don't have to have one set price have a range. If they can afford and are willing to pay you well then let them. Most daycare centers charge 3.50-4.50 for one child. (sometimes less)
What are you offering ?Are there special activities that you do with the children? Do you cook for them ? Help with homework?
Consider all this. I know some people who can only afford five dollars and others who pay ten dollars an hour. Also consider how well the children behave and is the older child helping you out when you are there??? hope I helped you .
I think a good range is $8.00-10.00.for two or more children.
add 50 cents for any house work .
For one child that is older $5.00-8.00

As and adult with no kids, I can't tell you what to charge, but as a business person, I can tell you that you need to have a rate, or a rate schedule if you want to charge by the child. When someone is going to work for me and they won't tell me what they charge, it makes things VERY uncomfortable. I am worried they will be offended if I don't offer enough, but I don't want to be a sucker and overpay either. If I ask someone what their rate is and they tell me up front, I find it honest and direct and I am more likely to hire them (and tip them if appropriate). There can be hard feelings if your customers feel ripped off or if you feel underpaid. Don't be ashamed of your fees-- you are giving parents a chance to go out for the evening and enjoy themselves without worrying about their kids, and you are providing quite a service if you do it well!! So develop a rate schedule and stick to it. Good Luck!!

PS: being responsible for young children is a lot harder that working at stores and fast food restaurants, so don't be afraid to charge a fair price. If the parents are paying it and calling you back, they don't think it's too high.

i might say a minimum of $7 an hour, if not greater. If I bread it down in days and that i exchange into the single paying (i'm a mom, not a sitter) i might say that for Wed night, $20 given which you made dinner and did baths. Thurs, fri and sat, probaby $210 for the three days, yet you may value $one hundred in keeping with day-$10 hour for 2 little ones. In entire, i might say they probable owe you approximately $250 supply or take some funds.

$120 per night sounds pretty well paid, since you're not even paying taxes on it.

Set your rate depending on the age of the children and whether you have to put them to bed or not. Don't pussycat around and let them decide. You're in business for yourself.
