only if there is a difference between marriage & relationship to the man will there be a difference between a husband & a bf.
to some it is basically an added insurance to "protect" both parties.
however, i think a husband has to take on the roles of providing for the family, making the family a whole and hence needs enough maturity to consider each & every step he takes... not a boyfriend.

What a sweet reply from Angel!
I'm sure you must know the legal difference. I married my husband last year - before that we lived together for a while and previously were married to other people. Now we are married we feel closer, we know we are bound to each other because we want to be, and therefore we feel we are more likely to work out any problems that arise in our relationship.
A husband is the man you spend your life with and hopefully the father of your children. Your comfort and joy in good times and bad. A boyfriend is just someone of the opposite sex that you have fun with but is probably just passing through your life.

As tempting as sarcasm is in this instance, I'll try to refrain from letting my bitterness show...The difference between husband and boyfriend is technically a legal one primarily. In most cultures it is also a public declaration of committed monogamy for life. Having a boyfriend implies that one is considering choosing a partner while a choosing to marry a man removes the woman from the pool of potential partners for life.
PS - Oh yeah, it is also the difference between lots of good, healthy, exciting sex with more than one man in a lifetime and the slow, but certain dying of both people's sexual lives. There...I said it. Sorry, but I couldn't help myself.

a boyfriend buys you roses, a husband buys you flowers from the petrol station
a boyfriend takes you out to dinner on Valentine's Day, a husband waits until a 'discount night'
a boyfriend thinks you look good with your clothes off, a husband prefers you with them on!
and carry on in that vein
actually I'm only joking. Mr. GorgeousFluffpot is a wonderful husband and, as we speak, he is cooking me a superb dinner while I dither here on Yahoo Answers. Oooooh, he's just bought me up a glass of wine (gulp - ah, that's better!).
Now where was I .....?

a husband is someone that you have fallen in love with enough to want to spend the rest of your life with him. You will have taken on his name as well.
By comparison, a boyfriend can be just that. a friend, who is a boy.(/man) In a relationship sense, a boyfriend is taken to be a person whom you are 'seeing'; a less serious relationship. Generally, when a relationship becomes serious, a boyfriend is referred to as a partner, as in the case of those who choose not to marry.

boyfriend, someone you are interested in seeing if they are the one you want to be with forever..possiblly the one you want to marry w/ no commentment really set. Even though as a boyfriend there is some commitment. Husband the one you have decided you want to be with forever set a goal to have this person your other half, the one you can pour your whole self into, not excepting judgement from knowing they will except No matter what. Yes arguments adn that whole not breaking up, it is called divorce if you want to leave.

Getting married shows that you trully want to be with your partner for the rest of your life. Relationships can be serious without marriage but it is an extra step to show how much the couple mean to each other but should only be done at a stage when there are no doubts as it should be for life.
